Microsoft’s premium Surface Studio PC is changing the way creative businesses view CAD and graphic design.
The Surface Studio is a powerful desktop PC with a 28” touch screen that can tilt and be folded down for a perfect drafting table at 20 degrees. Which is the most optimal viewing angel for sketching and designing. The incredibly thin 13.3 million pixel display lets you bring your designs to life, with its 4GB NVIDIA GeForce Graphics card that will keep up with your designing needs.
The Surface Studio also comes with a Surface Pen stylus with 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity to mimic the same experience of using a pen/pencil/brush and a paper. Except you can now do this on the impressive higher than 4k resolution. And of course to complete your experience, your new surface studio will come with a Microsoft designer wireless keyboard and mouse.
Microsoft has also introduced the new interface device, Surface Dial that allows designers to gain tactile control over their apps and designs. You can use the intuitive Surface Dial on your desk or on the screen to allow you to zoom, undo, scroll, adjust sound volume or screen brightness. You can also use the dial to choose colours, or the size of a brushstroke, or even change a song without being distracted from your work.
The Surface Dial also has a functionaility called “Haptic Feedback” which lets you Feel Your Work through vibrations that will help you stay totally in touch with your design.
Conveniently the Pen AND Dial are both also compatible with the Surface Pro 4 and Book which means you can work on your design from anywhere when you have a sudden urge of creativity!
Surface Studio is a game changer
Microsoft has designed the Surface Studio to allow designers to seamlessly transition between modes without sacrificing on build or display quality. The hinge, which Microsoft describes as “zero-gravity”, allows the Surface Studio to easily go from desktop mode to a sketch level with a touch of a finger. The screen is incredibly bright and vibrant for how thin it is, it also supports a distinct 3:2 aspect ratio that displays graphics on the screen exactly as they will appear on the printed page.
Compared to the first-generation Surface Book, the graphics performance has significantly improved, where the touch experience makes the user feel more engaged with their work by having more hands-on options with the Surface Pen stylus and Surface Dial.
